It is obvious that you are being sarcastic. I keep hearing different people being critical of Osteen’s preaching… actually I find his messages to be full of the gospel. He is able to teach some of the more complex biblical principals in a simple to understand and relevant to daily living way. The fact that he doesnt use the fire and brimstone venacular is absurd. It is clear that he is talks about Jesus and that our hope and abundant life can only be found in a personal relationship with Jesus.
Everyone is so quick to criticize what is popular. They are so quick to point out the shortcomings rather than the good that is being done, the people that are being reached. Just becuase he does not preach it the way you want him to, does not make it wrong.
You would have probably not liked Jesus telling life principles through parables… the Pharisees of the day didnt like that either.
I have been an Osteen event and I can assure you the music is very worshipful and filled with honor and glory to God and Christ. Testimony is given to how the Lord moved and worked in their lives, and the message is full of scripture and inspires me to live a life that is more impactful for Christ. It may not be for everyone… but I have a feeling that there are going to be a lot of people in heaven becuase of the ministry and message of Joel Osteen… perhaps you should ask if what you are doing will accomplish the same thing.

    DD,

    1) I used the plankeye argument that Jesus used.

    2) Osteen is the catalyst I used since most evangelicals say this about him.

    3) Experience is relative.

    and
    4) Nobody will be in Heaven because of Joel Osteens ministry or message. They will be there because of Christs ministry and message. Which is, we are sinners who need a savior. That’s what Osteen doesn’t tell people. Thanks for helping to make my point.

    consider this lesson #1

Your desire to have the gospel clearly presented is good. Thank you for that message.

I am not an authority on Osteen but have seen and heard of some very good results coming from his ministry. The God I serve seems to be able to use people from all walks and ways of life, David the warrior, adulterer and murderer, Solomon the peaceful king and philanderer, John the Baptist who fasted, and Jesus who ate with sinners to name a few. I also pray that he uses me, even though I disappoint him at times. I am sure God uses you as well and will continue to do so. However, I hope you can grow in graciousness towards those who do things and see things differently.

Your fourth point is very good. I would only add explicitly what I believe you implied, and that is: “We are sinners who need a saviour” and our Father/Creator loves each of us: you, me, and Osteen … so much that he provided himself as a saviour.

Please keep up the desire to have the gospel presented clearly and find ways of positively promoting that. You obviously have passion and talent that can make a real difference in this world.
